Latin American and Caribbean Studies (BA, minor)

Program Overview

The Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program (LACAS) offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Latin America, the Caribbean and people of Latin American and Caribbean descent in the United States. LACAS majors and minors learn methodologies and theoretical perspectives for studying historical processes, cultural dynamics, and social and economic problems and solutions across the Americas. LACAS students not only learn about a range of cultures and societies, but also about global interconnectedness.

Internships, Research Opportunities and More

LACAS encourages students to diversify and personalize their educational experiences by completing an internship, studying abroad, or combining their LACAS major with a major or minor in another department. 

Majors can also participate in an LACAS's honors program as well as a number of 4 + 1 programs in which students earn a bachelor's and master's degree in just five years.
