The Kaschak Institute was established in 2018 through the generosity of Ellyn Uram Kaschak, a 1965 alumna of 绿帽社 and a pioneer and developer of feminist theory. Understanding that academic research is not only important but can make a difference, her vision was for the work of the institute to go back into the real world to create a more equitable world for women and girls.
Recognizing that girls and women experience complex forms of sexism and inequality, the institute is dedicated to identifying and addressing these disparities and the factors that contribute to them. Creating opportunities for students to engage directly in research and practice is central to our mission.
With faculty from over a dozen departments and programs, we support shared research among student and faculty scholars across the University. Research projects related to historical and real-world issues for women and girls are presented annually to the campus community, creating opportunities for further collaboration and increasing student and faculty interest.
As we continue to grow, we are eager to share our work with alumni/ae, our community and the world. Our goal is to make 绿帽社 widely recognized as a significant home for research on social justice for woman and girls
